In today’s competitive online marketplace, website promotion and online marketing are paramount! As important as it is to design an attractive website and create an e-commerce store that is stocked with unique, sought-after products and provides a secure, enjoyable user experience, to attract customers and close sales, it is imperative to reach your audience in meaningful ways. Engaging them on social media is a great place to start.

With a vast array of available social media channels and numerous tactics to leverage, establishing a strong digital presence and forging direct connections with existing and prospective customers is easier than ever. Here are some tips to help you get started!

Platform Selection: Social media marketing is a powerful, effective way to leverage awareness for your brand and communicate directly with your customers. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, TikTok, Pinterest, and LinkedIn, each afford you the opportunity to reach your target audience and engage them about your products, e-commerce business, and brand.

Each social media platform has it’s own audience and advantages. While it’s important to maintain a presence on each platform, many business owners find their audiences “live” on a few select platforms. For example, LinkedIn is heavily skewed towards business conversations and lead generation whereas TikTok is dominated by creative, informative, and entertaining video content. Test campaigns, market research – both platform and your target audience, and analytics can help you identify the best channel for engaging your customers. To be successful in optimizing your presence and pages, it’s important to provide updates and push content on a regular basis. Doing so allows you to get to know your customers in a more organic, authentic way and engage them on a steady basis, so your products and brand remain top of mind.

Posting: Social media marketing and promotional campaigns are incredibly effective, especially when brands post meaningful content. The goal is to produce dialogue that not only intrigues potential clients but also excites existing customers and generates more leads by trying a few of the following suggestions. To do, focus on creating posts and sharing images and videos that are relevant, memorable, and engaging.  

Going Live: Video is a great way to engage customers and going live allows you to do so on a much more personal, direct way. If your company is new, you might post an introduction and share a few words about your product. Live videos may also be leveraged to announce new product launches, sales, or special events.

Contests: People love contests and one of the best ways to engage your clients is to share content that intrigues your existing followers and new visitors and gets them excited about your brand. Whether it’s a product giveaway, temporary free trial for something that you offer, or some other “prize,” contest draw people into your marketing sphere and generate goodwill between your business and your customers.

Sharing Quality Content: Today’s consumer is inundated with advertisements, promotions, and information. Sharing quality content is key. Adding fun facts, user-friendly tips, advice, and shareable content can help boost conversions. Updating your social media channels regularly is important but you don’t want to risk losing your target’s attention because they are overwhelmed with too many posts. So, be sure to curate your posts and monitor engagement, so you’re better able to maintain the interest of your audience.

Promoting Your Sites: Let your audience know where to find you! Your e-commerce website should contain direct links to each of your social media channels so that users can quickly and easily click through and follow you. You should also promote those connections on your other marketing collateral, such as stickers, business cards, flyers, posters, and banners.
